by Sara Thorne, Permitting Manager-Nevada, Coeur Mining - The Women's Mining Coalition (WMC) has been an active grassroots organization since 1993, bringing constituents together from across the country to communicate with members of Congress and their staff. In the early years, members and participants in the WMC initially addressed proposed Mining Law Reform legislation. The organization continues today, addressing many issues facing the mining industry. WMC is able to do this effectively because of the diversity of the women working in our modern domestic mining industry. Coeur is honored to be part of the important work of the WMC organization. During the week of April 13-17, 2015, I had the tremendous opportunity to join approximately 40 members of WMC during the organization's 23rd annual Fly-In to Washington, D.C. Over three days, WMC held more than 300 meetings on Capitol Hill, including 32 meetings with members of Congress.
