HEALTH AND SAFETY

A safe and healthy working environment is essential for the protection of our employees and to maintain efficient, productive operations. Health and safety goals for each operation are established annually, and monitored monthly.

In September 2000 – Coeur Rochester Inc. Supervisor, Ms. Wendy Anelli received the 1999 Nevada Mining Association Individual Supervisory Category Safety Award. Ms. Anelli was recognized for improving over twenty standard operating procedures designed to teach safe mobile equipment use and for incorporating them into safety training manuals and special safety-tool box meetings held with mine personnel.

In November 1999, our Petorca mine, in Chile, surpassed 1 million man-hours worked without a lost time accident. In addition, the mine received recognition from the National Safety Council, Chilean Safety Council, and Sernageomin (the mining safety agency of Chile) for its exemplary safety performance.

In 1998, the Rochester mine received the Safe Medium-sized Mine of the Year Award from the Nevada Mining Association.
