Exploration

ARGENTINA

In 2007, the Company conducted greenfields exploration primarily on its four new properties (Aguila, Sol de Mayo, Sascha, and Joaquin) in the Deseado Massif, a large area of volcanic rocks that host all the known precious and base metal deposits in the Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. Aguila and Sol del Mayo are controlled by private Argentine business interests; the Company has the right to purchase both properties from the owners, who will retain a production royalty after completion of staged work and payment obligations. Sascha and Joaquin are controlled by Mirasol Resources Ltd. (Vancouver); Coeur has the right to earn up to a 71% managing interest in a joint venture with Mirasol in return for staged work and payment obligations. In addition, in 2007 we explored our 100%-controlled Cisne and Lejano properties in Northern Santa Cruz, and announced results from the first 8 holes on Cisne drilled in the fourth quarter of 2007. We also added a new property in eastern Santa Cruz (Satelite), which covers and area of veins and alteration that trends sub-parallel to the ore-bearing structures at the nearby Cerro Vanguardia mine. Including the contiguous block of land around the Company’s Martha Mine, we now control over 363,000 acres (+147,000 hectares) of land in the prospective Deseado Massif.
